The outcome in cases of equine fracture repair is dependent upon many factors. Some of these can be controlled and others are dictated by the nature of the injury, size, use and disposition of the patient and are beyond the surgeons' control. In thisdiscussion I have tried to identify factors which I feel are of most important in determining the outcome of these cases. The purpose of this discussion is to help the surgeon identify potential pitfalls and improve the overall success of cases of equine fracture repair.
