Arthroscopic treatment of recurrent anterior shoulder dislocations

Introduction: Treatment of recurrent shoulder dislocation is a topic of considerable debate with surgeons obtaining equivocal results from both open and arthroscopic methods. We retrospectively evaluated the outcomes of arthroscopic repair for recurrent shoulder dislocations done in our center.Methods: Twenty-four patients (19 males, 5 females; mean age 26.6 years; range 19-43 years) were treated by arthroscopic Bankart repair with suture anchors for post-traumatic recurrent anterior shoulder dislocations. Range of motion was measured pre and post-operatively and the patients were assessed using ROWE score for shoulder instability. The mean follow-up was 21.8 months.
