Extreme ranks of Hermitian Solution to a Pair of Matrix Equations

We establish explicit formulas for the maximal and minimal ranks of Hermitian solutions to the complex matrix equations A1X=C1,XB1=C2. As an application, necessary and sufficient condition for the invariance of the rank of the matrix equations mentioned above is given. Some previous known results can be viewed as special cases of the results of this paper.
