Preliminary study on forecasting Soil and Water Loss in the course of the wind farm construction in Gobi Area

In order to study the situation of the soil and water loss,which happend in the course of the wind farm construction, we researched the nine wind farms which located GanSu province Jiuquan city in Gobi area, used the GPS and the laser rangefinder to measure the disturbed areas, the excavation volumes, the filling volumes and the bulldozer volumes; used the drill solders method, the dust cylinder method and the run-off plot method to measure wind erosion and water erosion. The results indicated that in the course of the wind farm construction, for the installed single turbine (1.5MW), the average size of the disturbed surface was 0.65hm2, the average quantity of the used earthwork volume was 0.36×104m3, the quantity of the added soil and water loss was 0.02×104t. According to this , in the target year of 2010、2015 and 2020, when the total capacity was completed in Jiuquan City, the amount of the installed units would add up to 3440 units、8474 units and 13334 units; the total size of soil disturbed minimize the disturbance of soil surface, improved the utilization of earthwork, and reasonably distribute the measures of water and soil conservation, tried to reduce the soil and water loss caused by wind erosion and other factors in the construction process.
