Research on the Status of Internet Addiction among University Students as well as its Relationship with their Sense of Loneliness

"Questionnaire on Sense of Loneliness", we have conducted a cluster sample survey on the students of a certain university in Shanghai and ultimately obtained 276 effective data. Accordingly, we adopted correlation analysis, regression analysis and other methods to analyze and discuss the status of Internet Addiction among university students as well as its relationship with their sense of loneliness. The study results reveal that university students have been strongly addicted to the Internet, with addicts of 5.78% and dependants of 11.23%.Besides, the sense of loneliness and its factors are positively correlated with Internet addiction among university students with varying degrees and it is much easier for Internet addicts and dependents than for non-internet addicts to form a sense of loneliness. Furthermore, with the degree of sense of loneliness, we can significantly predict the possibility of students’ getting into internet addiction and its various dimensions.
