Changes of the clearance between punch and chamber resulting from thermal-mechanical loading effects affect the injection process of squeeze casting greatly. This paper aims to control the changes of the dynamic clearance in order to ensure the smooth operation of the injection system. A temperature control method by cooling punch was proposed, and two cases of vertical injection processes, which were cooling and non-cooling, were simulated during the ten squeeze casting cycles. The clearance changed from the initial 0.15mm to the stable 0.099mm in the case of cooling, while from the initial 0.15mm to the stable 0.071mm in the case of non-cooling, which demonstrated the temperature control method was effective and feasible.
