Human Capital and Regional Economic Growth: An Empirical Research Based on Panel Data of Eastern, Central and Western China

摘要

This paper, based on provincial level panel data of the eastern, central and western region of China from 1996 to 2007, Indies the relationship empirically between human capital and regional economic growth in China by using fixed effects regression nodel of random-intercept .The results show that the fixed asset investments, labor input and education funds play an important role n improving the regional economy, however, The effect of the level of human capital is very faint, and primary education plays a negative consequence on the development of regional economy. Finally, we give some suggestions on how to promote coordinated ;rowth between human capital and regional economics.
