When your company's safe driving performance does not reflect the improvement expected from previous training investments, how do you turn it around? This question was posed to the top 100 managers of a global oilfield service company accompanied by a challenge to deliver recommendations for improved vehicle and driver safety performance. The company then leveraged an existing Total Quality Management (TQM) culture to formulate an improved approach to driver training. Content of the process will be presented and includes a review of the shifts in front line management and driver attitudes toward safe driving performance. Lessons learned from the design process will be shared, including integrating HSE into the business while using TQM methods.
