FOOD FRACTION VALORISATION AS ANIMAL FEED IN THE BASQUE COUNTRY

New waste management policies aim to reduce the volume of waste going to dumps and incineration plants, encouraging at the same time the valorisation. It's due to a dumps overexploitation and the low quantities of recycling and valorisation. In this context, the environmental Framework Plan of the Basque Country has defined some specific goals for 2012. On the one hand, a specific objective for 2012 is to reduce until 45% the urban wastes sent to dumps. On the other hand, to reduce in 50% the biodegradable wastes sent to dumps for 2009, by means of a responsible management of the natural resources.
