The use of DP28WTM reduces passivation air in urea plant and benefits customers

Toyo Engineering Corporation (TOYO) and Sumitomo Metal Ind., Ltd. (Sumitomo) are the pioneers who have paved the way to apply duplex stainless steels to synthesis loop of urea process since 1970's. The latest version of their duplex stainless steel for urea plant is called DP28WTM which has superior corrosion resistance in urea carbamate solution. It greatly enhances reliability of high pressure equipment in synthesis loop and reduces the potential risk of emergency shut down, which contributes to high efficiency of urea plants. Recently TOYO and Sumitomo have done intensive research to reduce passivation air injection to the synthesis loop, which leads to higher conversion of synthesis solution, lower investment and operation cost, and safe operation. In conclusion it is shown that passivation air injection in synthesis loop can be greatly reduced when DP28WTM is used.
