Bi-component TiO_2/WO_3 photocatalysts are in the focus of numerous studies (1-10) owing to the advantage of reduced recombination rates of the electron-hole pairs photogenerated under UV light illumination. Due to the favorable relative position of their valence and conduction energy bands, a directional charge transfer at the interface between the two semiconductors suppresses the recombination of the photo-induced charges and surface active sites by hole trapping are created in parallel.
