The Committee met on October 11, 2009 at the Town and Country Hotel, San Diego, Calif., from 1:00 to 5:30 p.m. There were 15 members and 42 guests present. Chair Dan Lafontaine presided. Dr. Lafontaine welcomed all attendees and introduced this year'soverall theme, Animal Production Food Safety. The program consisted of a series of six presentations by animal production experts from the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA), Food Safety Inspection Service (FSIS), industry organizations, private industry and academia. The Committee's business meeting followed the scientific presentations.
