This paper investigates the quantizer-coder designproblem for networked control systems (NCSs) with finite com-munication bandwidth constraints, where sensors and controllersare connected via digital channels carrying a finite number ofbits per unit time. The main purpose is to specify upper andlower bounds of data rates of communication channels, abovewhich there exists a coding and control law for stabilization oflinear time-invariant systems. A new quantization and codingscheme to stabilize an unstable plant is proposed. An illustrativeexample is given to demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposedscheme.
