Technology Validation of Fuel Cell Vehicles and Their Hydrogen Infrastructure

Two projects are underway to analyze the latest automotive fuel cell vehicles deployed and the hydrogen stations that support them. Several automotive and infrastructure manufacturers and operators are or will be providing data to the Department of Energy's National Renewable Energy Laboratory Hydrogen Secure Data Center. This data is analyzed and then aggregated in the form of composite data products to provide status and to identify areas needing improvement without revealing proprietary details of each data provider. Publication of these aggregated results is done by posting to NREL's website and by presenting at conferences. Individual results are sent back to the data providers to gain insight and compare with the aggregated results. These two projects are successors to the Learning Demonstration Project that ended in 2011 for which there are many publications and a comprehensive final report that was presented in summary at the Fuel, Cell Seminar 2012.
