Development and Test Experience of a 4kW_e Ethanol Fuel Processor for Fuel Cell APU System

摘要

InnovaTek has developed an advanced fuel processor that has been integrated with a fuel cell to produce 4 kW_e electrical power to charge an onboard battery. The fuel processor converted ethanol/water into hydrogen rich reformate, and further reduced the carbon monoxide to less than 1% (dry basis) through an integrated water gas shift reactor. The entire auxiliary power unit (APU) consists of a high temperature PBI fuel cell stack, an ethanol fuel processor, and power electronics to provide 240 VDC power for battery charging.
