The current study evaluated the impact of water and charge air oxygen concentration on the DCN value of a fuel sample. It was found that dissolved water in the fuel sample had no impact on the DCN value at concentrations beyond the saturation limit of the fuel. Water in the charge combustion air also was found to have no impact of the DCN value at concentrations up to 100 ppm. The concentration of oxygen in the combustion charge air was found to have a significant impact of the DCN value of the fuel, resulting in an approximate 1.3 change in DCN for each 1% vol. concentration oxygen in the charge combustion air.
