Production of biodiesel with desirable low-temperature properties is an important practical task (1-3). We probe a number of biodiesels we created from oils of northern plants. In order to further improve their low-temperature properties, we use a variety of alcohols in the process of transesterification of fatty acids (2,3), including isopropyl, 2-butyl, and isoamyl alcohols (see Table 1).
