Results of 2 to 3 plant crops and one to two ratoon crops revealed that Co 0239, Co 0118 and Co 0238 recorded higher average pol%, cane (Plant pol% cane ranged 12.40 to 12.7%, ratoon pol% cane ranged 12.52 to 12.88%) as compared to average pol% cane of standard variety Bo 130 (Plant pol% cane 12.08% ratoon 12.09%), CoP 9301 (Plant pol% cane 12.05%, ratoon 12.21%) and Bo 91 (pol% cane plant 11.27%, ratoon 11.08%). Co 98014, Bo 139 and CoLK 94184 also showed improvement in pol% cane in ratoon as compared to ratoon of Bo 130, CoP 9301 and Bo 91 standard varieties.Pooled data of cane yield of plant and ratoon crops of Co 0238, Co 98014, Co 0239, Co 0118 and Bo 139 also showed higher cane yield (plant cane yield ranged 78 to 88.5 tonne per hectare, ratoon cane yield ranged 66.2 to 76.3 tonne per hectare) as compared to standard Bo 130, CoP 9301 and Bo 91 varieties (plant cane yield ranged 64 to 71.4 tonne per hectare, ratoon yield ranged 59 to 65 tonne per hectare). Maximum improvement in cane yield was obtained in Co 0238. Large scale demonstrations laid out at Sidhwalia and Mqjhaulia area also showed higher cane yield of Co 0238, Co 0239, CoLK 98014 as compared to existing commercial varieties.
