One of the most relevant scientific issues in XXI century's Chemistry is the "Omics" revolution, created by novel technological platforms such as genomics, proteomics and metabolomics. In gas-phase peptide Chemistry, with its entrenched reductionism traditions, the revolutionary tendency is to employ for explanation of the observed phenomena large MS/MS databases extracted from proteomics datasets. This approach, that is based on massive statistics provided by high-throughput experiments, can in parallel with other "omics" brands be termed "fragmentomics".
