On the way to an overall integrative approach on information technology and telematics - (PPT)

From the beginning during the years 90, IT has been seen in EU like a strategic need and a critical point for the clients and the operators. Clients demands - Waiting time, Travel time, Events. Operator demands - Vehicle Location, Security. Various AVMS were done with too few references to standards, except for the data management with TRANSMODEL and for the radio communication protocols. The public transport vehicles were generally equipped after-sale with a first generation of telematic equipments, proprietary, inextensible with updated applications, difficult to maintain and to set-up.
