Photovoltaics in the Czech Republic - Example of a Distorted Market

Analysing the development of "sustainable energy" incentives in the Czech Republic over the last five years and drawing on experience from other countries, the study discovers that the "environmental friendliness" of the so-called "renewable sources", originally the primary driver for large-scale subsidy programmes, must be called into question. In addition, these energy sources do little to bolster "energy security" in Europe. What is worse, there has been mounting evidence to the contrary, with political decisions determining the facets of renewable energy incentives, and their implementation causing severe economic harm and paving, at the same time, the way for widespread corruption.
