In this paper, the architecture of a novel Rule-Based discourse structure builder engine is described. The engine has been created to be embedded in a reflective writing support tool that aimed to help students in writing more coherent essays. In the engine a set of rules control the process of making discourse tree. Each rule is composed of a set of discourse cues, namely parameters. Each parameter suggests a score representing the possibility of attachement between two sentences. A simple algorithm is also suggested to perform the task of discourse tree construction. The research mainly benefits from Centering Theory and provides a skeleton for many basic researches in field of discourse relation.
