Chitosan and its composites have been widely used as biomedical materials to promote wound healing and tissue regeneration. Recent study of human mesenchymal stem cells (hMSC) has provided a potent cell source for tissue repair and regeneration. A composite scaffold composed of hydroxyapatite (HA), chitosan (CS), and gelatin was developed for bone tissue regeneration using hMSC. This paper reports the dynamic interactions between hMSC and HCG scaffolds and its prospects in bone tissue repair.
