摘要

The objective of this work is to identify the external strategic reference points. The Rasch Model is used to prepare the profile that allows the external strategic reference points to be identified. The items have been assessed by a sample of managers of firms in Canary Islands (Spain), which is dominated by the small and medium sized enterprises in the service sector. The results show that the principal references that guide the firm's strategic processes include customers and current competitors as external strategic reference points.
