Enantiomerically-enriched a,a-disubstituted amino acids arean important group of unnatural amino acids that are useful forpharmaceutical synthesis. The Strecker reaction of ketimines isa direct method for synthesizing a,a-disubstituted amino acids.This chapter summarizes the development, mechanisticinsights, and application of the catalytic enantioselectiveStrecker reaction developed in our group.
