Based on a concrete filled steel tubular (CFST) tied arch bridge project, the instability caused by transverse wind load in bridge completion state is analyzed. The unified theory of CFST is applied to analysis the dual nonlinear stability of the bridge. Various factors, including arch rib initial imperfection, geometry and material nonlinearity related to stability analysis, are fully considered. The results show that the transverse wind load with high critical wind speed can cause aerostatic lateral buckling. The relatively small lateral buckling displacement reveals that geometry nonlinearity influence is trivial. Material nonlinearity is the main factor which affects the ultimate bearing capacity.
