Conventionally spot welding occurs by force setting up, pre setting, welding, force hold as decline during robot halt. The new developed and patented spot welding technology RoboSpin superpose main time welding and non-productive time gun motion to the next point parallel in time without robot stop. This new technology by spinning the electrode in phase of process has been developed for shortening cycle time. As a result of simultaneous welding and gun movement to the next point by spinning the electrode one can observe: that the chronological sequence of gun movement and welding is not successive in time with movement stop during welding; in consequence a reduction in spot to spot time; a constant movement of main axles without acceleration and deceleration; cycle time reduction from 5% to more than 20% depending on gun design and connection to the robot, welding task and part positioning in the working envelope of robot computer simulation; that fixed spinning angles are possible as a matter of course, at which the smallest collision free spinning angle is being investigated before.
