A "standalone" active DPF system has been designed to address the cold Diesel applications: No specific engine requirements (DI and IDI, NA and Turbocharged); No need a deep "post-injection" strategy (independent heat injection); Possible downsizing to meet the LDD applications requirements. It demonstrated durability, reliability and robustness with challenging applications: China (Beijing city): fuel quality, driving cycle, engine maintenance... Its demonstrated a good flexibility with fuel quality (sulfur content, Biodiesel blending...) On the road to "Global Cost Reduction", its combination with a new SiC-based DPF shows a large potential: using cheaper DPF substrate (design and production), designing a new exhaust architecture (removing the DOC in CC position), reviewing the DOC component and definition (DOC size and decrease of PGM loading).
