The Dells Hydroelectric Plant is located on the Chippewa River in the city of Eau Claire, Wisconsin. The plant encompasses two powerhouses featuring a single vertical propeller and 4 horizontal propeller turbines. The single vertical propeller rated at 2750 horsepower, 150 rpm, 25 feet net head is located in the smaller of the two powerhouses. This unit was originally installed in 1924 by the Dells Paper & Pulp Co. The plant is currently owned and operated by Xcel Energy.
