The Mg-Zn-Si alloys for preparing polycrystalline silicon were prepared by molten salt electrolysis. The Mg-Si-Zn alloys were prepared by molten electrolysis in the system of CaCl_2-CaF_2 electrolyte with Si_2 as raw material. Graphite was used as anode, and Mg-Zn alloys were used as cathode. The maximum of silicon content in Mg-Si-Zn alloys can reach 35.7%. The content and distribution of elements in the alloys and the microstracture morphology of the alloys were analyzed by methods of ICP, XRD, SEM and metalloscope. Polycrystalline silicon can be obtained from the alloys with high content of silicon by vacuum distillation. The process will develop to become a new technology for preparing polycrystalline silicon.
