An analytical method was developed for determination of aflatoxins B_1, B_2, G_1 and G_2, fumonisins B1, B2, deoxynivalenol (DON), ochratoxin A (OTA), zearalenone (ZEN), HT-2 and T-2 Toxins in maize. The method consists of solid-liquid extraction and a clean-up step using a Select HLB SPE column, followed by liquid chromatography with electrospray ionisation coupled to tandem mass spectrometry. Mycotoxins were extracted from maize with acidified acetonitrile/water using an ultrasonic bath. Chromatographic separation was achieved on an Acquity BEH C_(18) UHPLC column with a solution of methanol/water/formic acid as the mobile phase. Recoveries between 55 - 122% were achieved for AFG2, ZEN, OTA, AFB_1 and DON whereas enhanced recoveries were observed for FB_1, AFG_1, FB_2, T-2 Toxin, HT-2 Toxin and AFB_2.
