This paper focuses on two main issues, namely, conceptualization of disaster domain and domain specific information extraction for a disaster management system. We have studied the disaster domain and proposed an ontology for the description of this domain. We have also explored the information extraction tools for the purpose and critically evaluated them with test cases for the purpose. These components will be very helpful in developing a semantic disaster management system.
