Fast Gate Drivers Simplify Parallel Operation of IGBTs

The SCALE-2 driver chipset features fast signal processing, compensation of parameter variances over process and temperature, low drift or divergence and jitter of propagation delay as well as fast and configurable fault feedback. It also simplifies the management of parallel-connected IGBTs. Sev-eral driver architectures are compared to find the optimum cost-performance ratio for specific applica-tions. Distributed gate driving has been found to be the most flexible and scalable solution. It may also be the most cost-effective one, as standardized components can be used in large item numbers.
