Carbon based supercapacitors (CBSCs) and vanadium redox flow batteries (VRFBs) have attracted a great deal of interest because they appear to be promising energy storage devices. VRFBs present some advantages as long cycle life, flexible design and low maintenance cost [1]. CBSCs are mainly characterized by their rapid charging and discharging at high power densities, thus overcoming one of the main drawbacks of these batteries [2]. Chemically modified graphenes (CMGs) arise as promising electrode active materials due to their exceptional properties such as high surface area, excellent electrical conductivity and chemical/mechanical strength [3].
