Excellent stability, low cost, and environmentally benign make the olivine structured LiFePO4 be the promising cathode materials using in Li-ion batteries. There is a growing interest in LiMnPO4 for its higher energy density than LiFePO4. To enhance the transport properties of LiMnPO4, LiMn_(1?x)Fe_xPO4/C (x = 0.2, 0.3, 0.4, 0.5) composites were synthesized by substituting Mn~(2+) with Fe ~(2+) , and were coated by carbon layers originated from the pitch-based amphiphilic carbonaceous material (ACM). ACM has many hydrophilic groups and easily disperses in water or ethanol. It also mainly consists of aromatic molecules and more favorably forms a thin carbon coating on the particle surface after carbonization.
