摘要

The evolution of flight control systems incorporating load-limiting capabilities brings the possibility of designing new engineering processes in the loads analysis discipline. Such processes could allow the de-coupling of flight control laws design from loads analysis by properly defining aircraft response boundaries that can be considered the common field. This technique -called in this report Aircraft Response Confinement- can be used to deal with the loads problem as an optimization problem rather than a simulation one. This paper is intended to define the principles that could enable such technique as a future possibility. It tries to open new lines of investigation in order to afford the load problem in a way that can ensure real carefree handling as a feature of all future military designs and, why not, open the discussion also to the civil world. The possibility of using reduced ultimate factors with equivalent safety level can be seriously discussed in case that the proposed techniques can be successfully implemented at industrial level.
