Non-Ionic, High Solids Epoxy Acrylate Dispersions - A Novel, Ver- satile Class of Waterborne, Radiation Curable Binders

Water-based, radiation curable dispersions are well known in the UV/EB industry for dec- ades. Particularly in the last few years this product group has experienced substantial growth outpacing that of traditional radiation curable raw materials. Target markets are those, where their beneficial properties such as absence of sensitizing monomers, no need for volatile organic solvents, low viscosity and high chemical resistance are of prime importance. Hence it is not surprising that waterborne, radiation curable binders are no curiosities anymore in niche markets, but instead have grown as production standards into high volume markets such as wood coatings.
