Nanoscale C.I. Pigment Yellow 14/poly(styrene and maleic acid) (P.Y.14/PSMA composite) was prepared by phase separation method, then the composite was dispersed into the water to get an dispersion, the properties of the dispersion were further investigated. Experimental results showed that the weight ratio of dispersant to pigment (Rd/p), pigment content in aqueous media (Cp) and pH value of the continue phase had significant effects on the particle size and centrifugal stability of the dispersion prepared from P.Y.13/PSMA composite. Dispersion with small particle size and high centrifugal stability could be obtained when Rd/p was at 0.24, CPwas at 20% and pH value was about 9. TEM indicated that the P.Y.14/PSMA composite was smaller and uniformly dispersed in aqueous media, XRD curves indicated that the crystal of P.Y.14 was not changed during process. K/S value, ΔE* and Crockfastness of cotton fabric which dyed using P.Y.14/PSMA composite dispersion were higher than that of PSMA-dispersed pigment dispersion.^
