Coke drums are equipments in the oil refinery which subjected to cyclic thermal and mechanical loads to separate lighter oil from solid coke. The useful life of a coke drum is usually much shorter than the other equipments. In general, after operated for a few years the common problems found in the coke drums are shell bulges, shell cracking, and cracking at shell-to-skirt junction. The objective is to develop a remaining life assessment method to a coke drum with cracks. The propagation of a 2 mm initial crack length in the inner surface of the drum is calculated on the basis of linear elastic fracture mechanics (LEFM). The relation of crack lengths with the number of operation cycles was plotted.
