Characterising specific cell compartments of the fertile endometrium by gene and protein expression

Investigating global gene expression of heterogeneous tissue is hampered by the measurement in multiple cell types. Genes expressed in one cell type may be different from the level of expression in another cell. Hence when a mixture of different cell populations is assayed within one test then one cell type may dilute, neutralise or supplement the expression of genes in other populations and thus confound statistical analysis and make it difficult to dissect the molecular events of specific cells.
