The present invention relates to N-myc downstream regulated gene 2 (NDRG2 gene) specifically expressed in dendritic cells (DCs), and a method for detecting dendritic cells using the gene. In particular, the present invention relates to NDRG2 gene which is specifically expressed in the dendritic cells differentiated from the human peripheral blood, umbilical cord blood and myelomonocytic leukemia cells and can be used for examining DC differentiation, purity and features of the differentiated dendritic cells in the procedure for clinically applying the dendritic cells to the treatment of intractable diseases and cancers, and a method for detecting the dendritic cells using the gene and gene product.
