Sonochemical reaction of acetic acid has been carried out. In this paper, we discussed addition effect of water on the yield and products ratio. When pure acetic acid was irradiated with the ultrasonic waves, carbon monoxide, hydrogen, carbon dioxide, methane, ethane, and ethene were produced. The radical generation was increased by adding a small amount of water to the acetic acid. Moreover, the generation of the succinic acid was confirmed in the liquid phase. Thus, the elongation of carbon chain was observed. It was thought that succinic acid was formed through dimerization of acetate radicals.
