Evaluation on Friction and Vibration for Sidewalk Environment - Toward Accessible and Safety Sidewalk for Pedestrians

Infrastructure improvements for people with disabilities are important policy under aged society in Japan. In recent years, it is made many accessible improvement master plans in many local governments, and it is set up barrier-free regulation and guideline. By these law and regulations, it will be developed accessible road environment for people with physical disabilities. In Japanese accessible design guideline, the recommendation of sidewalk standard is shown such as a gap level, a degree of lump and width of sidewalk and so on. But there is not clear any efficiency in regulation, for example; "a condition of slipping sidewalk surface", "a relation of sidewalk condition and fatigue of a wheelchair user", "a barrier-free evaluation method", etc.
