The distribution and acoustic attributes of the soundscapes of a small coastal settlement by the seaside was mapped by sound walks, short term measurements and 24-hour recordings at different times of the year. The study has identified a number of natural soundscapes which are closely related to the landscape units. The acoustical attributes and sound components of each of these soundscapes are shaped by the interplay of anthropogenic, geophysical and biological forces which exhibit distinctive diurnal and seasonal patterns. Elucidation of the interplay of these forces can help understand the spatio-temporal variations of these natural soundscapes and manage them.
