The inventory management aims to, optimally; determine a policy capable of minimizing the costs related to storage of materials. In most recently inventory systems the optimal policy determination is done by a dense mathematical modelling, furthermore, the storage agent motion depends on the human act on their control. The introduction of automatic planning on inventory management changes the controls perspective of those systems, thereby; it is possible to determine the optimal policy by an automated optimization process. It is also possible to determine a sequence of actions which the storage agents should perform to ensure the execution of the optimal policy. In this way, it is noticed that automatic planning is capable of make the inventory system actually automatic, including the storage agents actions. This paper's main objective is to establish the requirements that should be attended to make possible to use automatic planning in inventory management.
