Introduction Different from ordinary dendritic cells(DC) of monocytic origin, FDC are antigen presenting cells confining to lymph follicles and trapping immune complexes to give a rise to memory B cells in the secondary response. In pathology, in HIV-1 virus infection, FDC trap amounts of viruses, offering nests to form variant virus, in either immune complex or nascent form, finally to be collapsed as follicle lysis in AIDS. In prion diseases FDC permit pathogenic prion first to anchor and intermediate their replication along autonomic nerve finally to involve central nervous system. Recently we evidenced FDC are rich in GM1-ganglioside as much as nerve cells. Reflecting upon microarray analysis of FDC-related cell-strains comparing with those of fibroblasts, PCR analysis with cDNA showed a higher expression of various neuroepithelial and sternness markers.. Furthermore electron microscopy showed collections of microve-sicles at the tip of cytoplasmic extensions. With our presenting and referencing data, discussion was focused upon the ontogenical and physiological characters of FDC.
