It has long been suggested that natural killer (NK) cells receptors and their allorecognition system play a major role in pregnancy as well as in miscarriages. In order to verify the NK cells receptors determined by flow cytometry (FC) in relation to the ones expected according to the HLA class I typing, 16 couples with URSA were studied by immunophenotyping analysis as well as by HLA class I molecular (SSP,SSOP) typing. NK cells expressed, among the inhibitory receptors, mainly CD158a, CD158b and CD158el as well as the three cytotoxicity receptors (NKp44, NKp30, NKp46). The expression of the inhibitory receptors assumed according to the HLA typing was confirmed in most of the individuals studied by FC and vice versa.
