In aerospace, the need to validate the quality of the powder is mandatory. To do so, companies involved in AM have established on their specification some requirement on many powder characteristics. The goal of this study was first to identify simple measurement way which can detect in one step any drifts on the powder during the AM process. So different conditions were applied on powders batches. The results of the measurements done on these samples with different methods were analysed to estimate their sensitivity and accuracy to detect drift. The selected method was used to estimate the impact of the process itself on the powder and by this way, knowing which step of the process affect the powder characteristics. The final goal was to establish a sampling and checking strategy (how, where, when) which will guarantee a good quality check of the powder in production condition.
