Filter Media Efficiency Testing, What it does and does not tell the user

Virtually all manufacturers of filter media and device measure the efficiency of their products by challenging it with ISO test dust, latex beads and/or micro organisms. They often report the results in their technical data sheets which they supply to potential users of their products to convince them their product is good for the application. Unfortunately most of the filter product manufacturers do not use the same test protocol and the results of their testing has little relationship to the results of another manufacturer or the results the user gets when evaluating the filter product. This paper will discuss the difference in the test results and their implication for a user evaluating different filter products. Sometimes the data helps the user and sometimes it confuses the user.
