On TEXTOR, measurements of He-like argon lines with an imaging Bragg spectrometer have been performed. The instrument had a layout similar to the x-ray spectrometers planned for ITER and was comparable in size and Bragg angle. The experiments showed that the required accuracy in the measurement of the ion temperature is obtained, for the plasma rotation, additional measurements of absolute line position and relative measurements with secondary standards such as x-ray fluorescence lines are required.
